I recently got a new (to me) car that would require either steps or a ramp.  After seeing Terri's steps for Max earlier this year, I choose to get the Pet Loader steps.  I got the four step 16" wide aluminum model (should have gotten the five step model).  I tried seeing if she would just walk up them but she balked.  A couple well places pieces of pepperoni and she climbed right up.  I'm really happy with the steps.  They seem nice and sturdy and fold into a reasonably small package.

Since my truck lasted so long without any trouble (I had just passed over 300,000 miles a couple weeks ago), I stuck with a Dodge and got a silver 2005 Durango.

Have used a ramp with all my dogs.... no problems at all.   Took less than five minutes to train each of them.

I first got a telescoping ramp:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029XB97O/ref=oss_product and learned it's BAD for BIG trucks.

My dad has a one ton diesel Dodge duley truck, 4 door.  On the first try, the telescoping ramp started telescoping while Cascio was on his way up into the truck cab.  YIKES!!!  Cascio was okay, but I wasn't.  Immediately returned it, and they said they didn't know of it having a slipping problem and then they admitted they didn't know of cases where it was used a truck as big as my dad's.  So, I guess it depends on the size of the truck???  I wouldn't want to risk it with this particular one, though.  Customer service was nice, but the scare of it wasn't.

Then I bought a ramp:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0029XB97O/ref=oss_product which I LOVE!!!!  Has the slip grips on the back where it sits on the car, has slip grips where he walks, and it is SO sturdy!!  It's find for my dad's cab and for the back of my Forester.

the second ramp, is also the ramp we have.  no issues with it.  It is big to store when the dog is in the car, but other than that we really like it.

I have the petstep II ramp that folds in half and it has the non-slip stuff rubber on it (I think it is on sale online with Costco for $79 right now). Folded, it fits behind standing up in the back seat of my CRV, so I can only have 3 people and one dog in the car at a time.  I started Maggie on it at 10 weeks with a few treats on the ramp and had no problems getting her used to it.  I also leave it in set up on an old couch in the house so that she stays used to it and we use it for training in the house.

My awesome ramp I used with SEVERAL giant breed dogs from 2005 through 2016, and is STILL in great condition!
