I purchased one for Cruiser (not the one above) and he will not wear it. It was $75. So if the above works it would be a steal.

I need to look into one.  I felt bad because the other day i had my father's truck and Max was laying in the front when a guy  slammed on his brakes in front of me in traffic cauing me to hit the breaks hard.  Maximus flew off the seat and woke up on the floor in confusion.  I dont want him hurt so i think this would be a good investment.

We used these when Kaya was young and always trying to climb into the front seat.  I don't know whether they would still fit.  If I remember right, the Kurgo website had chest measurements to determine sizing.  I do remember that her deep chest kept us in a size larger than the weight range would indicate.

I can tell you that they are very well made and that if sizing works I would recommend the product.

I have the XL and it really works well. I have to admit that I get lazy and don't use it every time we ride, but it is well made and easy to put on.

For those of you using harnesses, I'd like your feedback. I'm looking at the Solvit harness on Amazon - it's a good price and looks big enough.  I'd like to know if anyone uses a harness in the cargo area of an SUV or do these only work in the back seat.

I also am wondering about a zip line tether set up for the back seat.  Do you think the side handles would hold up if a 150lb AM pulled on them?

I've always been against zip-lines. As nice as it is to let the bogs go back and forth, I feel like it won't help in an accident. That harnesses are supposed to keep them held still in an accident, but I feel that the zip-line will stop them from flying forward and just allow them to be thrown from side-to-side. One of the reviewers on it seem to have had trouble with it breaking with a bit of pressure.

I think I would stay away from the harness based on the high number of bad reviews.  29 one star reviews with only 192 five star reviews makes me think the product may be bad.

Gert wears a harness from USA K9 Outfitters on long rides.  Her lead is attached to the cargo tie down behind the back seat of my Durango.  While her harness doesn't look as nice as the one in your link (a chest strap rather than the triangle chest cover), I am really happy with how beefy it is made.  It's on par with the straps I have for tieing down a vehicle to a trailer.

Sorry Matt, 192 5-star reviews vs 29 1-star reviews sounds overwhelmingly good. What am I missing?

(That sounds like I have a vested interest - I don't. Just confused. )

(This is just my opinion / thought process when using Amazon reviews when checking on any product.)

When I check Amazon's product reviews I always sort through negative reviews for issues with the product.  There are always going to be negative people who are never satisfied and others who give bad ratings because they can't figure out how to work the product.  I try to weed those types of reviews out and concentrate on the ones that are specifically related to how the product functions.  Does the product do what it is intended to do?

One of the low reviews was from someone ordering a second harness.  They were happy with there first harness but the second had been redesigned and was of a lesser quality.  This tells me there are at least two versions of the same harness out there.  Will you receive the good version or the bad version when you order?

Another review mentions plastic connectors instead of the "no plastic used" in the description.  Others mention the harness loosening by itself, coming undone, and parts breaking.  These negitives are all directly related to how the product functions.

When Sasha was a pup I had one of these harnesses but threw it away after the first week.  The buckles were made of plastic (not metal as in the picture) and there was no fluffy padded part on the front.  The first few times I used it, it kept loosening and twice Sasha was able to easily get out of it.  After 6 days, one of the snaps had a large crack.  In the garbage it went.

If I would have paid more for it I would have been upset but, live and learn; you get what you pay for.

Thanks Matt and thanks for the other thread.  I just need to stop procrastinating and order and see how they work.
