brushing teeth vs wipes
« on: February 21, 2013, 01:11:42 PM »
I've seen various products out there for cleaning dog's teeth. Currently I try brushing which goes ehh ok. I've also seen wipes and stuff that can be added to the dog's water. Has anyone had better luck with one more than the other in terms of use and then how well they work?

Per Rachel's suggestion I have been using Plaque Off for a couple of years. Here's the info:

I, also, have been using Plaqueoff.  Although Daegan (age 4) is showing some yellowing, her vet says she is fine at this point.  Kieren still has his pearly whites.  The Plaqueoff is a powder that goes in the food bowl.

Well, I know I probably fall in the small popularity on this--but in all my dogs, I have never once brushed their teeth and they have never once had teeth problems and all lived past their life expectancy. I believe that from refraining from soft foods--i.e. canned foods, soft treats, etc--and only using kibble mixed with fresh scraps and only using hard (unflavored) Milkbone biscuits for treats and providing US made grade rawhide bones as well as the Kong for chewing fun--I have avoided issues.

I have a virtually unused bottle of ProDen Plaque- Off. Since all three of my pups are on thyroid meds and this product is made from seaweed, I thought it best to not use it and possibly mess with their thyroid levels.

First one to respond to this who would like it--I will be happy to send it to them and free up a little space on my never-ending shelf of doggie products.

Tyler just had his annual vet visit and the vet said his teeth look great! I believe in the Plaque Off!
